I run an ICOM 7300 as my primary HF rig both mobile and as my ground station radio with an Amazon Morse/CW paddle (I can send/receive ~10wpm of Morse Code) along with a Yaesu FTM3200D for VHF.
For POTAs/remote operation, I have a wolf river coil and a homebrew end-fed halfwave which functions as an NVIS antenna at only a few feet above ground, along with homebrew Yagis for hitting repeaters both across state lines and on the International Space Station.
I have a lot of fun with compromise antennas, with my primary apartment antenna being my rain gutter. I've made contacts on chain link fences, light posts, abandoned rail tracks; I'll try and tune up just about anything!
